PEAS would love to hear from you! Please sign our guestbook (no spamming, we promise!)
I have been a picky eater since day one. I'm almost 63 years old now, and not really interested in change at this point. My first and pretty much first hated food is tomatoes in any form. Before I could talk, my mother would try to feed me spaghetti with sauce on it, and I would turn my head, spit it out, scream and turn red, yell, "NOOOO!", and knock it off the shelf of my high chair. One day, she had the noodles without the sauce on them sitting on my high chair and was about to put the sauce on when the phone rang. When she came back, I was busy shoving the plain noodles into my mouth. Soon it became clear I wanted nothing to do with most dairy. I don't like eggs as something to eat alone, regardless of how they are cooked. I despise cheese big time, I never really wanted to drink milk, and haven't had a glass in 30 years plus. I have 3 levels of like , meh, and dislike/hate. The stuff I like, I really like! Corn in almost any form, rice, narrow egg noodles(Long story). Most fish, shrimp, crab, but please, leave the lemon off of it. I don't get it.. Beef, Some Chinese food. Plain everything. A sandwich is bread and meat, or peanut butter, I want no lettuce, or god no, mayo on it. Beef is well done or it goes back to cook until it is. Potatoes, fried, boiled, mashed, are all great, unless something other than salt is on them. Meh is a lot of stuff I don't hate, but I have no idea why anyone would want to eat it. Poultry is number one here. I don't understand it's appeal. This attitude runs in my family, as my grandfather and uncle didn't like it either. I have eaten it, but unless it's fried, I have to force it down. I do eat broccoli, but it's like taking a vitamin, I don't like it at all. I like raw carrots, cooked ones are revolting. Peas are fine, unless they are out of a can. No green, wax, pole of other beans. The hated food list is long. Tuna, Trout, and Salmon are "hell no!". Ranch Dressing is the grossest smelling and tasting thing on earth, with mustard right behind it. Obviously, Italian, most French, Middle Eastern, Greek and other foods are not going to work. I don;t like really spicy food even though I can handle very hot food without much distress. I dislike white meat pork too. Hated fruits are anything in the peach family, grapefruit, any melon other than watermelon. Almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans are not going to be eaten. My friends are constantly amused by my eating over the years, and if we go out to lunch or whatever, they know Olive Garden, Mexican, Greek, Japanese, and a lot more will not happen, but I'm fine with Red Lobster, Wendy's McD's, BK, and most other fast food places, and any place that has fried fish other than the "gross 3" above is more than ok.
